Professional Investor

I am a professional investor with over 15 years of investment experience. I provide customized research in global macroeconomic trends, global industries and major asset classes–helping my clients maximize returns in favorable investment climates and protecting assets in unfavorable climates.

I am currently the Managing Director of Research at CB Capital Partners, Inc., a boutique investment bank in Newport Beach, California. I am previously the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of MarketThoughts LLC, a financial and investment advisory firm catering to global investors, including the world’s largest hedge funds (e.g. Tudor Funds). In that role, I have beaten the S&P 500 by 1.5% annually since inception in August 2004, with much less risk. I have also managed a family investment partnership and founded the Buck Consultants investment consulting office in Los Angeles.

Starting in January 2000, I alerted my friends and associates about the huge risks created by the historic speculative environment in the global stock market. Through a series of correspondence and e-mails during early February to early April 2000, I discussed my reasons and the implications of this historic mania, and suggested that the best solution was to sell all technology stocks in one’s portfolio. I also alerted my friends and associates in late 2000 that it was one of the best times to accumulate gold mining stocks with both the Philadelphia Gold and Silver Mining Index and the American Exchange Gold Bugs Index at a value of 40. Today, the value of these indices are 196 and 554, respectively.

As we move forward into the 21st century, the pace of change and the availability of economic opportunities will not only be plentiful, but accelerate. The role of modern globalization, the inevitable rise and the decentralization of the alternative energy power grid, and the proliferation of broadband internet as an individual empowerment tool will give rise to a new “knowledge worker age”–transforming whole industries and the way we work and play. I take into account all these life-changing secular trends in my research on the financial markets and your investments.

In my spare time, I volunteer as the Co-Chair of the CFA LA Society Book Club.
